Led by CEO Livio Bisterzo, Green Park Brands has developed a new snack product that meets the needs and standards of today’s health-conscious consumers. Hippeas are gluten-free organic chickpea puffs that are kosher and vegan, to boot. At just 100 calories, Hippeas are rich in fiber and contain no additives or preservatives. They’re also a great source of protein. Hippeas are, in Bisterzo’s words, designed for the “health and socially conscious consumer.” At the same time, they’re great tasting and fun. Hippeas have made such a splash that Starbucks has recently added the snack to it’s assortment of grab-and-go items.
With a marketing campaign that invokes the spirit of the bygone era of the 1960s and 70s, Hippeas were developed with Millennials in mind. The generation is more health conscious than older consumers, and the nostalgic appeal of their parents’ peace-and-love sensibility ties into this their concern for environmental well being. Bisterzo believes Starbucks is just the first step for what he hopes will be a truly international brand. In addition, the company makes Hippeas in a few other flavors: Pepper Power, In Herbs We Trust, and Maple Haze, which it sells on its website as well as in thousands of retail locations.
At the age of 18, he moved to London, where he studied at the prestigious University of the Arts and started up an event planning firm. He became a serial entrepreneur and quickly expanded into a range of businesses, being recognized at the age of 27 as one of London’s 1000 most influential people by the Evening Standard newspaper. He founded Green Park Brands in 2015 and moved to Los Angeles this year to focus on the company and built an innovative food and drink portfolio, with Hippeas being the first entry. Hippies was launched this year in 18,500 stores across the US and UK. Bisterzo believes that Hippies is on track to revive and redefine the bagged snack market.
