Peter Briger has come to be a very well recognized name in the business world. He is known as part of the top 400 most successful business professional as listed by Forbes Magazine. His growth to this position has been nothing short of phenomenal growing from an intern at Goldman Sachs & Co to where he is today. He attended Princeton University, where he did his B.A at this would awaken his interest in business and from that point on there was no turning back. Goldman Sachs served not only as a launch pad for his career, but also granted him with an opportunity to gain a lot of relevant experience that would help him a lot at Fortress. Peter Briger did his MBA at the prestigious Wharton School of Business an excellent choice given his prospects moving forward.
At Goldman Sachs, he had made partner by 1996 and a year later this would prove to be the right investment decision as he helped co-found Goldman’s Special Situations Group in 1997. This special group was tasked with finding and executing some of the most secretive yet profitable trades for Goldman Sach and it has been credited as being one of the key drivers of revenue for the organization in the last decade. Peter Briger would later leave them in 2002 and move to Fortress where his career really ballooned. He joined at management level quickly rising to establish the Fortress Credit business together with his team of about three hundred he would grow it to become one of the best departments in the organization.
As the department grew so did he and in 2006 he joined the board of directors at this time he was also a member of various organizations such as the Asian Management Committee, Global Control & Compliance Committee and the Japan Executive Committee. This would contribute to his global experience in running business and as such it was no surprise when he was elected to be Co-chair of the Fortress board of directors in 2009. This meant that he held a lot of say in the operations of the organization. Now an investment vehicle overseeing over 65 billion dollars all over the world, it was only natural that Peter Briger became Co-CEO a position that would enable him oversee the day to day activities of Fortress and as such would be able to steer it in the right direction.
