How to build wealth as an AML professional?

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about how to increase my income as an AML professional for a while and there seems to be multiple options. Would love to hear from you if you have experience with this or have gone through a similar thought process. I love working in AML and not planning to switch careers. I'm currently working at a midmarket fintech in the Bay area and can't complain about my comp. I love my team and the company culture is great. I've just been thinking about how to build enough wealth to buy a house etc., you know, "the dream". I'm in a serious relationship for a while now we'll probably have a family one day.

Here are a few options I've considered:

  1. Join a startup as a BSA officer, Head of AML etc. and focus on stock options: too risky?
  2. Jump companies targeting bigger titles in each role: too mentally tiring + looks bad on resume?
  3. Stay in current role and haul ass: my boss thinks I like staying in my comfort zone?
  4. Join a big bank and do #3?
  5. Start an AML consulting business? I don't think I have the network for this yet.
  6. What else?

Sorry this sounds like a rant, I'm a little confused as you can tell. I also understand there is no reward without risk. Just looking to get some perspective on what some of you all ended up doing.

Appreciate the help!
