Asymmetrical Tonsil

Hi all, 28M 200lbs 6’1” relatively healthy & active, non smoker, no tobacco, social drinker. Three weeks ago now I was at my yearly family dr appointment when my family dr noticed my right tonsil has what appears to be a growth on it. She referred me to an ENT which I met with the past week. The ENT took a look down my throat and confirmed there is a bulge on my right tonsil. They said it may be concerning due to the fact that I have not recently been sick and have felt fine the last several months. They told me we could go ahead and remove my tonsils entirely or we could wait and take a look at them again in 6 months. I opted to schedule an appointment for 6 months from now and go home and discuss with my wife. My wife thinks that I should go ahead and have my tonsils removed to be on the safe side, but I have read online that it could be a pretty painful recovery for a few days. I do not know how long I have had this as I don’t look at the back of my throat at all. My family doctor also ordered some blood work which I am going to do tomorrow, maybe the results there could help with the decision but I guess what I am after is affirmation that it is ok to wait the 6 months and keep an eye on them? Obviously if they get worse or if I notice lymph node swelling I would call my ENT right away but maybe this is just the way my tonsils have always been and I’m getting worked up because I am just now finding that out. The ENT did say it looks like regular tonsil tissue as well. I have also attached a picture. Thank you in advance for all who read and take the time to provide your thoughts!
