Fun & Strong (not Item dependent) Builds for game with friends?

I'm starting a campaign with friends soon. We don't know what each other is going to be playing and we're not playing Honour Mode either. I'm looking for a fun and strong build, but I don't know too much of the game. Every time I find reddit posts or videos, it's often question of finding items to optimize, but considering it's our first playthrough together (no mods), I don't want to depend on those! Any help is welcomed :) Multiclassing is encouraged too; I usually like gish builds where I have multiple options for different situations. I don't like always doing the same action every turn.
