401k as your net-worth

1st thing: it is inspiring to read posts in this sub even if some of are fake, thank you! Noob question. Why many of you list your retirement accounts as a part of your net-worth? Assuming you retire at 45, your retirement accounts are not fully liquid. Unless you are willing to pay fees and taxes to get that money early.
