Hey r/Maine, it's your neighbours cross the Gulf checking in. How you guys really doing?

Greetings from across the Gulf of Maine in Nova Scotia! I spent a lot of time in your beautiful state when I was younger, and took my kids to Maine for their first visit to the USA this past summer.

Everyone I have met in Maine is so kind and genuinely friendly. It's like visiting cousins you know just kinda "get" you.

No offense though, but I don't think we'll be back for a while. Too many stories of Canadian travellers getting detained and harassed have been making our news here. It's sad. But I also take it with a grain of salt.

So to my questions - how are you doing? What are your feelings on the tensions across the border these days? Do you, as Americans, think we Canadians really have been taking advantage of you economically, as some of your officials have said?

Will the tariffs and counter-tariffs affect you personally?

Has anyone been affected by the federal job cuts we hear about?

Any other things you want this Canadian to know?
