Minecraft newbie

I know nothing about Minecraft, and I can’t find a quick answer as to how to start a quest. My young son is playing on an iPad. Would that be the pocket edition?

I read that the quests are available in the top left of in your inventory, but we started a new world in survival mode, and there’s nothing showing there. Do we have to add them? How do we do that?

He can’t do quests in creative mode and actually collect coins from them, right?

Are quests how you even collect coins? How long does it take to save up like 3000 coins? He’s trying to buy the Jurassic World add-on.

I apologize for all my very noob questions. It’s hard to find quick answers. I’m not actually playing the game, just trying to quickly help my son.
