Monster Hunter Wilds actually has an amazing story this time!
Let’s be honest: how many times have we heard that Monster Hunter’s story is always the same? “A big monster shows up, you hunt it, then an even bigger one comes and beats up the first one, and so on.”
[NO SPOILERS] Well, Wilds has finally broken that cycle. No spoilers, but after playing for about 7-8 hours (got the physical copy a day early), I can confidently say the narrative feels way more engaging. The characters actually matter, the world feels alive, and there’s a real mystery driving the story—not just an excuse to throw bigger and bigger monsters at you.
Capcom really stepped up: cinematic cutscenes that actually add to the experience, an art direction that enhances the storytelling, and a sense of progression that isn’t just “new rank, new monster.”
So yeah, anyone who thought the story would be as flat as always might need to rethink that.
