Why do dentists remove wisdom teeth and not other teeth in their place?
Like why do dentists remove the wisdom teeth when they start coming in instead of removing the other back teeth you already have so the wisdom teeth can just grow in properly? The wisdom teeth are new teeth that we sometimes get because back when we ate tougher stuff we would need replacement teeth (simplified, I know, but basically) so then why do the dentists not take out the teeth you've already used and let the new teeth come in instead? It seems like that would make more sense because then you have new stronger teeth, right?
Edit: so it seems that the most common reason is that they won't grow in right since they're already meant to be somewhere else. That makes sense, I thought they would just grow in the empty space but it appears that doesn't usually happen.
Thanks for all the answers!
