How bad is removing braces mid-treatment?

Long story short, I will be moving countries in 11months. My teeth in general are not badly aligned except for a certain "shark tooth". My orthodontic told me they will be able to get this shark tooth in front about 50-60% in position before I leave and I should get the treatment. I agreed because it's dirt cheap in my country (~ 400 USD for the entire treatment). But now I am wondering how bad it could be to get braces off mid treatment. The country I am moving to doesn't have govt sponsored healthcare and braces cost several thousand USD so I won't be able to get them immediately again. Would it be fine if I wait few months before I am able to afford them in my new country assuming I wear special retainers? Is it possible to have a "bad bite" during this period (mid treatment, when I leave and that which could be destructive?)
