Question for the guys

I have been in the talking stage with this guy and I really like him. I haven't really felt this way about anyone before. He's sweet, kind, and put effort into communicating. He has a stable job and is a close with his family which are things I really appreciate in a partner. I kinda wanted to get him a rose for our first date as a sign of appreciation for the effort he has put in. Would you guys see that as weird or is that too much for a first date?
