Higher fines, demerit points for speeding offences from Jan 1, 2026

Finally! Always felt the demerit points are too little, and fines are puny such that people just break the law and pay the fines if they get caught, no issues at all to them. I'd also add in that there should be fines for changing lanes without signalling, it's one of the key contribution to accidents other than speeding. Also launch campaigns that drivers/pedestrians can submit video footages to catch errant motorists, and incentivise (every successful report of traffic law broken, award $200 and upwards). Incentivisation will HUGELY help bring down such errant behaviours as part of enhanced enforcement.

What do you guys think?
