People who tape MC connectors like this, explain yourselves.
Am I crazy or is this a not a big deal? I feel like this is a big safety problem.
If there were a ground fault, the current couldn't flow to the GEC, then the breaker wouldn't trip, and the sheathing would just be hot, right? And then maintenance guy grabs MC while trying to figure out flickering light problem and gets zapped.
What you're looking at is electrical tape around the MC, the sheathing is insulated from the connector, they did it like this on several lights in this chain.
Probably ran out of red devils. But when I took this apart, there wasn't any tape around the wire, like, in place of the red devil.
