Gastric sleeve surgery for dealing with antipsychotic induced weight gain

My wife is getting gastric sleeve surgery next Wednesday. She was thin almost her entire life but the last couple of years she’s steadily gained weighted. She’s 5’7”. When I met her in January 2021 she was around 135 pounds. She’s since shot up to about 190-195 pounds due most likely to increased appetite from anti psychotic meds to treat schizophrenia (from 2021 through April 2022 she was on abilify and since then she’s been on haldol).

Has anyone her whose been sleeved needed the surgery due to antipsychotic induced weight gain? If so how were your results. Did the surgery help get rid of cravings caused by your anti psychotic meds?

My wife will be staying on haldol so I’m nervous that the surgery might not be as successful as she hopes since haldol is what most likely caused her to gain weight in the first place.
