What movie in your opinion chickened out?

What I mean is what movie had a premise leading towards a certain direction but for some reason or another did not see it through? Whether due to budget constraints, lack of commitment, or the core of the premise was erased to make it more 'family friendly' and marketable. Like watching a disaster film where the disaster is avoided instead of wrecking havoc, which is what you paid to see.
